Dustin Smith is a cybersecurity leader, providing vCISO and consulting solutions to help aerospace and defense industrial base companies transform their cybersecurity programs. He has built and matured cybersecurity programs supporting small startups to multi-billion dollar companies. Dustin is adept at providing advice to board members, executives, and senior leaders regarding cyber risk. He has a proven ability to develop and complete strategic plans and roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
Dustin has built a trusted advisory relationship, and successfully guided clients along their security and compliance journey. He provides security program development solutions that enable his clients to meet their strategic objectives and has unique experience providing fractional Chief Information Security Officer services to NewSpace companies to include government organizations. Prior to founding Remedia Security, Dustin held information security leadership roles at Critical Insight, The Boeing Company, and the State of Washington. Those experiences provided a diverse background in manufacturing, government, defense, and space.
Dustin believes the key to successful consulting is providing an educational experience that transfers knowledge to the client and transforms their organization. He provides a customized approach to identifying client needs, defining processes, and implementing quality solutions. Through past engagements, Dustin has discovered unique methodologies to help organizations gain insight into their security programs and foster a strong security culture that supports and enables the business while minimizing risk.
Dustin’s education consists of a Graduate Certificate in Incident Response, Master of Science in Cybersecurity, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He has completed training offered by the Defense Cyber Training Academy. Dustin also holds several certifications in information security and incident response (e.g., CISSP, CCP, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA, GNFA).
